Who we are

Big Dog Issues is operated by Happymind, a business established in Finland, Business ID 1085813-1.

Happymind is the data controller responsible for the personal information we process to operate our store, manage customer relationships, and fulfil orders, except where a service provider acts as an independent controller as explained below.

You can contact us at mirkkumarketing@gmail.com.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and retain personal information when you visit our store, place an order, or communicate with us.

Personal information we collect

Depending on how you interact with our store, we may process:

  • Contact information: your name, email address, telephone number, and billing and shipping addresses.

  • Order information: products selected, purchases, payment status, delivery information, and return, replacement, or refund requests.

  • Payment-related information: payment method, transaction identifiers, and payment confirmations. Payment providers process your full payment details; we do not receive or store your full payment card number or security code.

  • Account information: account identifiers and preferences, where customer accounts are available.

  • Communications: enquiries, customer service messages, and photographs or other information you provide when reporting a product issue.

  • Device and usage information: IP address, browser type, device identifiers, pages viewed, interactions with our store, and cookie or advertising identifiers.

  • Marketing preferences: subscription choices, consent records, and interactions with marketing messages, where these services are used.

Some information is necessary to process payment, fulfil your order, and deliver your products. Without it, we may be unable to complete your purchase.

Sources of personal information

We collect information:

  • Directly from you when you purchase, contact us, create an account, or subscribe to marketing.

  • Automatically through our store and, where applicable, cookies, pixels, and similar technologies.

  • From Shopify, payment providers, fulfilment partners, and delivery providers.

  • From analytics and advertising providers when these services are enabled, subject to applicable law and your privacy choices.

How we use information and our legal bases

Where the General Data Protection Regulation applies, we rely on the following legal bases:

Processing orders — performance of a contract.
We use information to accept orders, process payments, arrange production and delivery, and handle contractual replacements, returns, and refunds.

Answering enquiries — contractual steps or legitimate interests.
We use information to answer questions before a purchase and provide customer support. Our legitimate interest is in responding to enquiries and maintaining customer relationships.

Security and business operations — legitimate interests.
We use information to operate and improve our store, prevent fraud and misuse, manage disputes, and protect our customers and business. We balance these interests against your rights and privacy.

Accounting and compliance — legal obligations.
We process and retain information required by applicable accounting, tax, and other laws.

Marketing communications — consent or another permitted legal basis.
If we offer marketing emails, we obtain consent where required by law. You can unsubscribe at any time through the link in a marketing email or by contacting us. We may still send necessary order and service messages.

Non-essential tracking and personalised advertising — consent where required.
Where advertising pixels or non-essential analytics are enabled, we obtain consent where required and respect applicable opt-out rights. Where consent is not required, we rely on another applicable lawful basis, including legitimate interests where permitted.

You may withdraw consent at any time. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.

Shopify and Shopify Network Intelligence

Our store is hosted by Shopify, which processes personal information to provide the platform, checkout, security, and other store services.

We have enabled Shopify Network Intelligence. Through this feature, Shopify may use information about interactions with our store together with information from interactions with other merchants and Shopify to provide enhanced services.

These services may help us and Shopify personalise shopping experiences, display more relevant advertisements, and understand how customers interact with our store and advertisements.

Information about your activity may be shared with Shopify and other providers located in other countries for these purposes.

For certain enhanced services, Shopify acts as an independent data controller and is responsible for its own processing, including responding to requests relating to that processing. Shopify explains its legal bases and privacy practices in its own notices.

Teelaunch and order fulfilment

We use Teelaunch to produce and fulfil our made-to-order products.

We share information reasonably necessary to fulfil your order with Teelaunch and the production and delivery providers involved. This may include your name, delivery address, ordered products, and relevant contact or delivery details.

When investigating a product complaint, we may share relevant order information and photographs to assess the issue and arrange a replacement or refund.

These activities may involve processing personal information in the United States.

Other recipients of information

Where necessary for the purposes described in this policy, we may disclose personal information to:

  • Payment providers.

  • Hosting, IT, security, and customer support providers.

  • Communications and email marketing providers, when used.

  • Analytics and advertising providers, when enabled.

  • Professional advisers, public authorities, or other parties where disclosure is legally required or necessary to establish, exercise, or defend legal rights.

  • Parties involved in a potential or completed business transfer, subject to applicable safeguards and legal requirements.

Some providers process information on our behalf. Others act as independent controllers under their own privacy notices.

Cookies, pixels, and advertising

Our store uses cookies and similar technologies needed for functions such as checkout, security, and remembering privacy choices.

When enabled, additional analytics tools and advertising pixels may measure visits and purchases, evaluate advertising performance, and support personalised advertising. Advertising providers may associate activity on our store with other information they hold.

Where required by law, non-essential technologies are used only with your consent.

You can manage available choices through our store’s cookie or privacy controls, or contact us for assistance. Browser settings can also restrict cookies, although blocking essential cookies may affect store functionality.

US privacy rights and choices

Depending on your state of residence and whether the relevant law applies, you may have rights to:

  • Access or obtain a copy of personal information.

  • Correct inaccurate information.

  • Request deletion.

  • Opt out of targeted advertising, sale, or sharing.

  • Appeal a decision concerning a privacy request.

Certain disclosures for advertising may qualify as a “sale” or “sharing” under applicable state privacy laws, even when no money is exchanged.

To submit a request, email mirkkumarketing@gmail.com. Where available, you may also use our store’s “Your Privacy Choices” or “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” control.

Where required by law, we honour recognised opt-out preference signals, including Global Privacy Control.

We may request information reasonably necessary to verify your identity or an authorised agent’s authority. We will respond within the time required by applicable law and will not unlawfully discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

To appeal a decision, reply to our response or email us with the subject “Privacy Appeal”.

International transfers

Your information may be processed outside your country, including in Finland, the United States, and other countries where Shopify and our service providers operate.

Where GDPR international transfer requirements apply, we rely on an appropriate legal mechanism. This may include an applicable adequacy decision, the EU–US Data Privacy Framework for participating recipients, or Standard Contractual Clauses with any necessary supplementary safeguards. Specific legal exceptions may apply in limited circumstances.

You can contact us for information about safeguards applicable to your personal information.

How long we retain information

We retain personal information only for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including applicable legal requirements.

  • Order, invoice, and payment records: for the periods required by applicable accounting and tax laws.

  • Customer service and complaint records: for as long as needed to resolve the matter and address applicable legal obligations or claims.

  • Marketing information: until you unsubscribe or the information is no longer needed. We may retain a minimal suppression record to respect your unsubscribe request.

  • Account information: while your account remains active and for any additional period needed for legal obligations or unresolved matters.

  • Cookie and tracking information: according to the relevant technology’s lifespan, provider settings, and applicable consent requirements.

The retention period depends on the information’s purpose, legal requirements, and whether an unresolved dispute or claim requires preservation. We delete or anonymise information when it is no longer needed.

Your GDPR rights

Where applicable, you may have the right to:

  • Access your personal information.

  • Correct inaccurate or incomplete information.

  • Request deletion.

  • Restrict processing.

  • Receive certain information in a portable format.

  • Withdraw consent.

  • Object to processing based on legitimate interests.

You may object to processing for direct marketing at any time.

These rights are subject to legal conditions and exceptions. For example, we may need to retain certain transaction records to comply with accounting requirements.

To exercise your rights, email mirkkumarketing@gmail.com. We generally respond to GDPR requests within one month. If a lawful extension is necessary, we will inform you and explain the reason.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information. No system or method of transmission is completely secure.

Please do not email passwords, full payment card details, or unnecessary sensitive information.

Children’s privacy

Our store is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.

Complaints

If you have concerns about our handling of personal information, please contact us.

You may also lodge a complaint with the Finnish Office of the Data Protection Ombudsman or another competent supervisory authority.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes in our services, practices, or legal requirements. We will update the date above and provide additional notice where required by law.
